Chip Gaskins
Chief Financial Officer
Chip Gaskins currently serves as CFO at Onyx Point with responsibilities for most back-office operations and financial activities. Prior to Onyx Point Chip was Venture Partner at Squadra Ventures a venture firm investing in early stage firms in the cybersecurity and national defense industries. Before that he was the managing partner at Buxton Capital, a lower middle‐market private equity firm in Washington DC. Prior to that Mr. Gaskins helped found several wireless infrastructure firms, including DigitalBridge (sold to SpeedConnect), HiBeam, and Mainstreet Broadband by assisting with capital raising, hiring management teams, and overseeing M&A activities for the various firms.
Before helping launch those firms, Chip managed major partnerships at AOL-TimeWarner where he negotiated large access deals with AT&T, Bellsouth, and Charter as well as large divestures of AOL’s previously acquired digital assets. Earlier, Mr. Gaskins worked for Intel Corporation in Silicon Valley where he worked with Intel Capital advising on equity investments in technology and infrastructure firms.
Mr. Gaskins has a Masters degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He currently lives in Washington DC with his two children where he coaches little league baseball, volunteers with the Special Olympics of Montgomery County, Thrive DC women’s shelter, and is a lecturer at the business schools at American University and Georgetown University assisting students with M&A, valuation, developing new business ventures and teaching entrepreneurship.
